As we communicated previously, a substation failure by our electrical energy provider, Entergy Arkansas, on Sunday evening, August 30, 2020 resulted in a power outage at Big River Steel that lasted less than 24 hours. All our operations were successfully and safely restarted with the exception of the galvanizing line which required repairs that were estimated to require 10 – 14 days.
While conducting those repairs, additional servicing needs were discovered. These services will be completed over an incremental seven- to ten-day period. While the work on the galvanizing line is completed, all other operations are continuing to run at or above rated capacity. Other than galvanizing shipments, which will be delayed consistent with the above, all customer orders are being processed as normal.
We plan to update all Big River Steel customers at the end of September on the status of earlier-than-expected deliveries from our Phase 2 expansion, which continues ahead of schedule and under budget
