2017
2017 was Big River Steel’s first full year of production – and it was record setting. A new production record was established in terms of tons of steel produced in the first month by a SMS group supplied flat-rolled mini mill: over 63,000 tons of hot rolled steel was produced in January 2017.

After breaking ground in July 2014, Big River Steel’s journey to become the world’s first Flex Mill® officially began. Built in an area of northeast Arkansas that is often called “steel mill heaven”, Big River’s first processing lines were operational just nineteen months later.
